Calvin University

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Named by U.S. News & World Reports as one of “The Best Regional Universities in the Midwest in 2020,” Calvin University is a world-class Christian university in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since opening in 1876, Calvin has continued to upgrade their décor plan to create an appealing, value-focused atmosphere for students, staff, visitors, and the community. 

Recently, they completed a multi-phase decorations plan to add new graphics to various areas around the University. With the goal of creating a visually exciting campus, Calvin wanted décor aspects that would leave a positive impression on prospective students (and more inclined to enroll) as well as highlight their students’ many accomplishments and celebrate the institution’s long history.

SOLUTION

Calvin University had a vision that the new room enhancements would be welcoming, creative, and inspire students to look at the world in new ways. To bring this concept to life, Source One Digital produced and installed a number of graphics throughout their facilities highlighting the institution’s rich history and achievements of their students and alumni. A number of products were used to evoke the refined look and feel Calvin desired including lifelike brick vinyl graphics, standoff mounted Sintra panels, acrylic overlays and frames, and dimension letters. 

At the entrance of Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex, we designed and installed a new focal point for the Knight Nation branding using custom printed commercial grade wallpaper. In the University’s Van Noord Arena, a new stage set was produced for future commencement activities made out of fabric that was printed direct-to-fabric and finished into the large panels to be able to attach to the frame structure. 

With each graphic a part of this project, Source One Digital focused on creating unique, cohesive, and engaging works of art. In addition, several different materials were utilized in order to bring the Calvin University story to life and capture heightened levels of interest.
